Since we began as a church in 2010 it has been our goal to be involved with the city and helping in any way we can.

Calvary Chapel Fontana will host teaching series, 'Moving Hope Forward,' throughout January at Steelworkers' Auditorium
Calvary Chapel Fontana will be hosting a weekly teaching series called "Moving Hope Forward" during the month of January.
The series will be held on Sundays, Jan. 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 6p.m. in the Steelworkers' Auditorium inside the Lewis Library and Technology Center, 8437 Sierra Avenue.
This series will focus on the direction of the Calvary Chapel movement at large, as well as the distinctives that make Calvary Chapel unique, said Pastor Daniel Vasquez of the Fontana church.
Teaching will be provided by Pastor David Rosales of Calvary Chapel Chino Valley, Pastor Carl Westerlund of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, Pastor Randy Walls of Calvary Chapel Upland, and Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.
"Come out and join us for this amazing series, and if you are looking for an active church with a heart to serve God's people, then join us at our regular service times and become an active member of Calvary Chapel Fontana, where we care about serving God and the people in our community," Vasquez said.
Vasquez originally started Calvary Chapel Fontana as a couples Bible study in 2006, and since then the church has grown steadily.
"In October of 2011, the Lord opened the doors to meet at a more permanent location," he said.
"Throughout the course of the last six years, there have been many challenges, but the Lord has faithfully provided for every need that the body has had. We will continue to trust in the Lord to add to the church as He sees fit and to provide for the needs of those whom He brings to our fellowship."
Vasquez said the outreach focused church has a goal of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all of Fontana.
"With that in mind, Calvary Fontana has done much in the past years to serve the community, including our annual Message in Action park outreaches (hosted every summer at Seville Park), and our Come As You Are Foundation (Tuesdays at 11a.n.), where we offer food and clothing to the homeless and working poor. We have also partnered with other churches and organizations in yearly activites such as Eat and Be Well on Thanksgiving. Calvary Fontana is also actively involved in the annual events put on by the city, such as the Concerts in the Park, the Fontana Days Parade, and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony," he said.
"As a young church, Calvary Chapel Fontana seeks to bring the message of the Gospel to all those who will hear, while at the same time providing for those who are in need."
Services are on Sundays at 8a.m., 10a.m., and noon. There is also a Wednesday service at 7p.m. and the From the Ashes youth group meets on Thursdays at 7p.m.

Love Fontana Health Fair will be held Jan. 21 at local Church
Love Fontana Health Fair will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Summit Church, 7970 Cherry Avenue, Suite 301 in Fontana.
The event is one of the community connection programs organized each year by the church.
"The is a free event," said Senior Pastor Daniel Vasquez. "It includes complementary services such as vision screening and diabetes screening, plus educatoin the important areas of dental health and nutritional health."
Parentering with Calvary Chapel Summit Church is LifeStream. "For people who want to give the gift of lige and donate blood, they will be able to do on site," Vasquez said.
Other partners fort the event include American Career College and California Lions - Friends in Sight.
The church also connects with the community through Love Fontana's annual summertime night in the park. That event provides families with free entertainment, food, and other giveaways. Love Fontana also includes a community cleanup and beautification day.
In addition to his duties at the church, Vasquez volunteers his time as a chaplain for the Fontana Police Department and the Fontana Police Association.

This year's event will take place on Saturday, May 20th from 5 to 8p.m. at Veterans Park, 17255 Merrill Avenue, and will focus on family fun and togetherness.
There will be free food, free items which family can use, entertainment, and booths which will provide details about various community resources and programs.
There will also be a kid's zone with a bounce house and games. Parents are welcome to take a pictures as their kids climb on the SWAT truck.
The event is successful in part because of Calvary Chapel Fontana collaborates with community organizations like the Fontana Police Association (POA), Local 935 Firefighters, and the City of Fontana.
"Last year was the first Love Fontana after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. It was a great event, and this year promises to be the best yet," Calvary Chapel Fontana Senior Pastor Danny Vasquez said.
Members of the Fontana POA will be at the park with their mobile barbecue to provide hot dogs and hamburgers for all those who attend.
"This is one of the ways we connect with the community, by sharing a simple meal together. It leads to better communication, which builds mutual trust," said Jason Delair, president of the Fontana POA.
Vasquez invited everyone to attend.
"The goal is to make Fontana a better place for all of us. Come be with us on Saturday evening," he said.

Hundreds march in opposition to proposed Planned Parenthood facility in Fontana
A proposal has been made for a new Planned Parenthood facility in Fontana, and even though the approval process is in the very early stages, the project has already genereated much controversy.
Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC) wants to establish the facility on the northeast corner of Sierra and San Bernardino avenues.
"The project is currently under staff review," said Monique Carter, the City of Fotnana communications and marketing manager, on June 6. "At present, no definitive hearing date has been determined."
In San Bernardino County, Planned Parenthood has locations in the cities of San Bernardino, Victorville, and Upland.
"Fontana is a medically underserved community, and it's important to ensure that residents canget comprehensive health care," said Nichole Ramirez, that senior vice president of communication and donor relations for PPOSBC.
However, becasue abortion is one of the services provided by Planned Parenthood, a large protest against the facility was held on June 2nd.
Hundreds of people, most of them from local churches, walked down city streets to the site of proposed facility. Many of hte marchers from St. Joseph Catholic Church carried anti abortion signs, some of which said "Let God Plan Parenthood" and "Pray to End Abortion."
Fontana resident Kimberly Chavez, an organizer of the simultaneous "peace pro-life prayer walk" that originated at Bethel Christian Fellowship, said she had multiple abortions when she was younger.
"I regret them severly," she said. "I know that I'm forgiven and set free, and I just want to prevent them from happening to any other young women who might be facing a choice."
At the smae time as the march, a small number of prochoice advocates also gathered at the location on the busy intersection to express their views.
"I am here to stand of Planned Parenthood," said Britney Gomez-Landeros, a Fontana resident. "Abortion is a human right."

Even though the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year, abortion is legal in most circummstances in Calfornia.
According to Planned Parenthood, the proposed facility has the potential to provide residents with more than 36,000 medical visits each year.
The services that would be offered at the Fontana location include multiple types of cancer screeening, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contraception, health education and counseling, coloposcopy tests for advanced cervical cancer screening, and pregnancy tests, in addition to abortion.
"PPOSBC offers low - to no-cost healthcare. No one is turned away. PPOSBC provides care regardless of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay," the organization said in a statement.
The Fontana location would create at least 24 local jobs, PPOSBC said.
Responding to the protestors PPOSBC's statement said that "it is unfortunate this group has chosen to protest a healthcare facility that would bring significant benefits to their own community."
However, the protesters said that Planned Parenthood's defense of abortion is unaccpetable.
Anna Tran, one of the speakers at a pre-march rally at Bethel Christian Fellowship, explained why she participating in the event.
"Unfortunately, as an ungodly woman when I was young, I had an abortion," she said. She would have undergone the procedure if she had the knowledge and resources she has today, she said.
"Now that I know better, I would never murder my child, becasue they're innocent," she said. "We should be the voice for the voiceless at all times and educate people about what resources we have avaliable, so that they don't end their precious babies' lives."
Chavez said that her church provides that needed assistance to women.
"At Bethel, there is a support gropu for those who choose to keep their babies," Chavez said. "We would love to have anyone in a crisis pregnancy talk to us, so taht we can show them support and help them with their physcial needs as well as their spiritual needs."
Daniel Vasquez, the pastor of Calvary Chapel Fontana, attended the protest.
"As Chrisitans, we must stand up for the most vunerable among us, including the unborn," Vasquez said. "Abortion is the taking of human life, and it is always wrong. We must work to create a culture of life, where every child is loved and valued, and where mothers are supported and empowered to choos life for their babies."

Miss Fontana Scholarship Pageant is planned June 10
A total of 50 contestants will be participating in the annual Miss Fontana Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, June 10.
After a few years of being held at Center Stage Theater, the pageant is now returning to its previous home at Fontana High School.
There are 17 entrants in teh Miss Fontana portion of the event and 33 participants in the Teen Fontana competition.
Giselle Aparicio, a graduate of Fontana A.B. Miller High School who is an honors student at Cal State San Bernardino, is finishing our her year as Miss Fontana after winning the title in 2022. In addition, Ava Trejo is completing her year as Teen Fontana.

Kaiser football players help their community by volunteering for Park Clean-Up Day in Fontana
Dozens of Kaiser High School football players demonstrated their community spirit by participating in Fontana's Park Clean-Up Day on June 10th.
The students gathered in the area of Citrus and Tokay avenues along the Pacific Electric Trail for the event, which is coordinated once a month by the Fontana Public Works Department.
Daniel Vasquez, the pastor of Calvary Chapel Fontana, teamed with up with Bill Cardosi, the Kaiser football coach, to get students involved in this volunteer activity.
"All these young men are going to learn about teamwork and camaraderie and they're going to learn how to serve," Vasquez said prior to the event. "The Kaiser football team is going to be great this year, and it's going to start today."
Cardosi said the students were exemplifying the team's motto of "We Not Me."
"This is what 'We Not Me' is about - being part of something bigger than yourself," he said. "It's important to serve others, to be humble, and to do kind and generous works that we are called to do."

About 1,000 people attend Love Fontana Festival
An estimated 1,000 Fontanans came together for fun, food, and faith on a recent Saturday evening at the 10th Annual Love Fontana Festival.
Love Fontana is presented by Calvary Chapel Fontana and was held on May 20 at Veterans Park. In addition to the festive celebration, Love Fontana also included beautification projects to benefit the community.
Steve Reed and Leonard Sein of the Fontana Police Officers Association cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on Fontana POA's mobile barbecue. The food was provided free to anyone who wanted to eat.
There were many things for children to do, like the popular bounce house, a craft zone, hula-hoop competition and a push-up contest. One of the biggest hits was the dunk tank, where Pastor Elijah Paiz volunteered to get soaking wet.
There were booths with helpful information, including medical screening and blood pressure readings. Free haircuts were also provided.
Other providers and supporters included Modern Woodmen fraternal financial advisors, Agency 8 Real Estate Group, American Career College, Assure Pregnancy Clinic, the City of Fontana, Cerdafied Studios, CityLink, Empowering Success Now, Fifth Labor Cleaning Services, Fontana Chamber of Commerce, Fontana Fire Prevention District, Final Touch Construction and Design, Hot Spot, Igelsia Sinfonia, Mimi's Hair Salon, Nutrishop of North Fontana, the County of San Bernadino, Rotolo Chevrolet, The Spot, Working Dogs for Warriors, and Utility Trailers.
Fontana Fire Department fire fighters provided a demonstration of how they put on their fire protective gear, how they set up their equipment to attack a fire, and how they use extraction devices.
Fresh from the dunk tank, Pastor Elijah Paiz said, "The purpose of the Love Fontana festival is to bring individuals and organizations from the community together, including students, parents, schools, businessess, churches, and the city."
The non-wet Senior Pastor Daniel Vasquez added, "Then we collaborate to make Fontana a better and ore beautiful place. Having hope is the key factor here; hope has always been a mainstay of faith-based organization."
Jason Delair, president of the Fontana Police Officers Association, added that science is beginning to recognize what people of faith have known all along" "Hope has been clinically associated with helping young people improve coping skills."
Delair noted that prevention is important to police departments because it is better to prevent negative social issues and crime than it is to arrest people for wrongdoing.
Mayor Acquanetta Warren summed it up: "By Loving Fontana, by hoping for a better future, we are inspired to marshal our resources and help keep us proud of our neighborhoods by continually making our city more beautiful, safe, and prosperous."

The debate about abortion is one of the great divides in our culture and nation.
Fundamentally, those who advocate for abortions call their position Pro-Choice.
Those who advocate that abortions are wrong call their position Pro-Life.
Both those terms sanitize the core issue.
The core question facing us in Fontana is how does Planned Parenthood benefit our community?
Here are some things about Planned Parenthood which we find abhorrent and
malevolent; things that we do not want in our community.
It comes from a court hearing in California, focused on Planned Parenthood executives and the undercover videos made by the Center for Medical Progress.
There were numerous witnesses. One was Dr. Forrest Smith, an obstetrician-
gynecologist. He has performed numerous abortions in California.
He testified that Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics sold aborted baby parts for profit.
He went on to testify under oath, that but babies were often born alive and then
murdered, in order to ensure the organs to be sold were more fresh and intact.
“There’s no question in my mind that at least some of these fetuses were live births,” Dr. Smith told the court. He went on to say, “Very few people in abortion, outside of Planned Parenthood, do that.”
The case was PLANNED PARENTHOOD FEDERATION OF AMERICA, Plaintiffs, versus the CENTER FOR MEDICAL PROGRESS, et al. Defendants.
The case was heard in the UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT, NORTHERN
DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO DIVISION.
Dr. Forrest Smith, a licensed physician in California whose practice is obstetrics and gynecology. He was asked to review specific documents and information and provide his expert conclusions and opinions.
This is the Summary and Conclusions of his sworn testimony. It is in the court record.

If you believe that those actions of Planned Parenthood are a benefit to our community, then we strongly disagree with you.
We see life as sacrosanct. We believe Planned Parenthood’s long list of abuses is
wrong for Fontana.
